I developed a machine learning portfolio framework that studies how different investment factors perform under changing market conditions. It uses historical stock prices to calculate momentum, short term reversal, and low volatility signals. The project measures how well each factor predicted future stock returns and uses a Ridge regression model to estimate which factors may perform better next month. These predictions are converted into changing factor weights and combined to rank individual stocks. The highest ranked stocks form a portfolio, which is then tested using returns, transaction costs, turnover, Sharpe ratio, Sortino ratio, drawdown, and out of sample prediction accuracy.
Monte Carlo Portfolio Simulation is a quantitative finance project that models the potential one-year performance of a $100,000 equal-weight portfolio of five U.S. small-cap stocks. Using three years of historical market data from Yahoo Finance, the model cleans and validates prices, calculates log returns, covariance, correlation, annualized volatility, and historical performance. It then runs 10,000 correlated Monte Carlo simulations across 252 trading days using a multivariate normal distribution. The project evaluates terminal portfolio outcomes, probability of loss, Value at Risk (VaR), and Conditional Value at Risk (CVaR), providing a practical demonstration of portfolio risk modelling in Python and statistical simulation.
